Network Engineer (Job Number:xxxx57)Description:This individual will be a Network Engineer acting as a Mission Communications Coordinator (MCC) at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC) in Colorado Springs, CO. The MCC assists Missile Defense Agency ground tests, war games and exercises stakeholders in Missile Defense Agency communications requirements identification and fulfillment. In the course of executing these duties, the MCC will design, implement and support event related network architectures. This includes providing recommendations on how to improve existing network capabilities, evaluate integration of new technologies to support emerging requirements, integrating existing networks and providing feedback to management for programmatic support. Candidates for this position should have experience with Missile Defense Agency test activities, processes and procedures. Soft skills as well as technical skills are important in order to present proposed technological solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to create and deliver effective presentations. The Candidate will also need to work closely with other system, infrastructure and software architects. The ability to provide technological solutions governed by strategic direction and business requirements is necessary.The Candidates for this position must have a United States SECRET level security clearance.Tasks and Responsibilities:- Provide technical direction to meet business needs- Write technical documentation- Create technical presentations- Development of Event Communications Plans- Network Design Modeling- Network Performance Planning- Network Capacity PlanningQualifications:Educational Requirements:A bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, MIS or other related field is required with 6 – 10 years of networking experience, preferably Cisco equipment, as well as experience working with Windows Systems. Extensive knowledge of network management and operating systems is necessary.Required Skills and Certifications:- Ability to obtain Security+ Certification within 6 months of hire- Ability to obtain CCNA Certification within 6 months of hire- Familiar with WireShark- Experience with Microsoft Visio- Working knowledge of multicast network design and implementation- Understanding of DoD Information Assurance (IA) and Computer Network Defense (CND) policiesPreferred (not critical) Skills and Certifications:- Knowledgeable on use of NetScout products- Understanding of Network, System Integration and Test Environment (NSITE) systems- Understanding of the Single Stimulation Framework (SSF) or Missile Defense System Exerciser (MDSE)- Understanding of tactical system intercommunications assets such as the Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI) or Joint Range Extension (JRE), and C2BMC systemsTravel:This position may require that the individual be able to travel to support Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside of the Continental United States (OCONUS) activities.
